Audiobook Atrocities

I called this morning about the past ENT referral from my previous primary doctor due to sleep apnea interfering with my sleep issues.

I drove out to Walmart to do a little shopping.

I worked most of this afternoon on listening to those audiobook samples, three types for different classic books, and evaluating them. The first two types for each had dynamic voices while the third had generic tone-deaf voices.

This evening someone in a Creative ABDL Server I'm part of connected with me, and they were part of the Neurodivergent Friends group and somehow found me through one of my flyers, seeing my jackalope icon. It was awkward but we're communicating okay for now.

Here's a cute cartoon semi-Woman's History Month-related.

But yeah, useless college majors, and it's more indoctrination than anything else today. Trade schools should get the same funding as Woke universities.

I contacted my local clinic about a referral to a new urologist, and they sent me a list of urologists to schedule one with but the nearest was 100 miles away, and I called Baylor about a closer one and kept in contact with my clinic about getting one within the AdventHealth system that's closer, but it's wait-and-see. I also asked about an ear/nose/throat specialist since my last primary care doctor suggested that due to my mild sleep apnea, but I dunno.

I did a gig on Upwork where I recorded 100 voices at a website, and I used my AirPods, and I got it done way quicker than the previous voice recording jobs I had done. I have another job where I have to beta-listen to different versions of audiobook excerpts from different books, and I'll start tomorrow.

This evening I went to a Healing Through Folklore event at the local witches' shop, and we wrote stuff via prompts and had some interesting banter. I opened up a little about my shitty experience with psychiatry and consequential mistrust of the medical establishment. There was another autistic guy there that was possibly gay, and I handed out a few flyers.

I had intended to shop for some things tonight, but I forgot and headed right home. Ah well.

From [community profile] thefridayfive:

1. What was the reason you began a Dreamwidth or LiveJournal account (or both)?
Mainly to vent because asshole admins and users on RPGamer (an RPG site I used to write reader reviews and editorials for) were being dickfaces, first LiveJournal, back in 2005 or so.

2. How many DW or LJ communities do you subscribe to?
4

3. Do you have a favorite community or one you check out often to see what's new?
No since they're not active here.

4. How did you pick your user name?
Karl Marx's quote "To be radical is to grasp things by the root," and while I'm not communist or socialist (I'm largely ideologically nonconformist), I think I grasp mine and the world's problems by their roots, hence the "good" kind of "radical."

5. If you could change your user name, would you?
Not for now, no.

6. If you have a LiveJournal, are you currently able to access it?
I deleted my old LiveJournal due to negative experiences there, but I did make a backup to use as evidence that the psych meds I was taking for 18 years fucked me up.

7. Do you have any information about why one would be unable to access LiveJournal?
Not at all. Maybe the Russia/Ukraine War since LJ is owned by Russians?

performance options

Got the syllabus for the next symphony season today. The only evident choral works are the Mozart Requiem in October, the Messiah in December, and Holst's Planets in May. Nothing that I haven't done before. Also I would much rather be in the audience for the next Planets performance instead of waiting in the wings to sing the difficult high notes for Neptune and missing out on the rest of the piece entirely. So. I am entertaining other options.

The obvious one is to go back to handbells, especially since our church's handbell group hasn't had enough participants to perform for a couple of years now. If I'm not rehearsing with the symphony on Monday nights, I'm free to rejoin the metro handbell group that I've gigged with in the past. They will definitely want me back if I'm available.

There's also another high level choir that is holding open auditions over the next few weeks. I've heard them perform once before and they're very good. So I'm going to see if they're interested in me. But I don't know yet what their rehearsal schedule is if they are.

Meanwhile, Robby has expressed tentative interest in joining the symphony chorus himself, since the last time he did any large scale singing was in college, and it was the Mozart.

Really should start on the next track for the Shark Out of Water album!

(Mood: Naoki starts to become curious and wants to know more about Fritz. Fritz is also curious, in addition to sincere as he observes how close Naoki is towards me (Fox). Genre: Soft Acoustic Emo Rock and LoFi Slowcore. Light Ambience and Lofi music mixed in with acoustic guitar. Minimal soft percussion.)

It's St. Patrick's Day but I'm not the celebrate-my-heritage type since no one gets to choose most of their demographics, and I think therefore it's dumb to be proud of any of them, and pride goes against my religion anyway.

3/16

My chiropractor was half an hour or so, and did the usual jackhammer-like and staple-like thingies on my back.

I shopped for some stuff at Walmart afterwards.

It was cold throughout the night, and the fact that I accidentally left my bathroom window cracked open earlier in the day after I showered didn't help.

3/17

This afternoon at the library there was a meeting of a local suicide prevention group, SAFE Central Texas, where they talked for an hour or so, and I said I may be interested in volunteering since they mentioned autistic youth among them, and I handed out some of my flyers.

I shopped for some stuff at Walmart afterwards and used up the rest of the money I got from the UCLA Apple Watch study.

My apartment manager sent me an email asking about extending my apartment lease for 6-12 months, and I agreed to another year, and I'll need to let my parents know my rent will go up to $525, since they currently pay it.

I finished polishing up my old editorial about the modern Left's problem with biological women and posted it on Substack (image is link).

Image

But seriously, I think not being able to tell what a woman is should be a disqualifier from political office, heh.

I had talked with
[personal profile] pshaw_raven some time ago about modern leftists' comfort with Islamic extremists that subjugate women, and saw a pretty badass quote from a female Spanish politician to the governing party in Spain regarding the current war in Iran.

Image

And idiot groups like Queers for Palestine--they would be the very first to die if Islamic extremists were to take over Western nations.

As much as I'd like to start the ninth song towards the Shark Out of Water album, Syaoran doesn't seem to be ready to step back... Naoki's a really constant presence in my headspace, so I think this is the song where these guys meet!

This is going to be interesting!

(Mood: Naoki's cautious, instinctively keeping close to me as Syaoran is calm, curious, and observant. These guys who are both concerned about me will be meeting for the first time. From here this leads to warning and speculating over any possibility of Xel'lotath being responsible for these complications. Genre: Atmospheric, Emo Reggae Rock. Airy synth pads, distant piano playing, reverb mixed in with emo rock delivery to a reggae rhythm. Expressive vocals.)

(I've changed my mind. I'm actually not going to mention Xel'lotath in this song because there's plenty enough character dialogue as is...)

Lyrics )

https://suno.com/s/6m5f8BwNNFVmK56x Took more credits than I ever expected to get this to sound great, but I'm relieved it's finally done. And I got Chat GPT to do a good enough cover art to go with this song. (I honestly think that a reggae rock genre style for my AU Syaoran persona is very cool! I might revisit reggae style for this character towards a later song that involves him. ^^)

lol damn, there's this one interesting take on an anime/manga muse who lingers around the outskirts of what I've been working on... I know I've thought previously about what kind of voice Syaoran from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle would have. A young pop/rock, strong teen voice. Soulful, courageous, and caring...

I guess I'm getting inspired about him again... I've been RPing on character.ai and it's been really interesting with this one ongoing storyline. Might as well bring that to life through song! Here we go!

(Mood: Watchful and determined young man from a sort of distance. A friend stuck in a situation he can't figure out. A mystery that troubles and concerns him that he cannot solve... Fantasy character who's gone through a lot of world traveling prior to having met Fox AKA me... Genre: Soulful and dramatic rock and pop blend.)

Lyrics )

https://suno.com/s/DknRi2RCSd6Y7aGy This has a reggae type of sound along with the soulful pop and rock vibe. Really cool! Yep, my interesting take on Syaoran as a muse has his own performance space now.

Church and Chicken

My sleep was okay, though I still tossed and turned a lot.

My church has its new permanent priest, a female vicar, and we had a potluck after communion. I brought some of the chicken nuggets I had gotten from Fairview--which had come from Chick-fil-A--and handed out some of my flyers.

I bought a physical copy of and started reading Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health by L. Ron Hubbard in hopes I may get some help for my mental health fucked up by 18 years of psych meds, and the Citzens Commission on Human Rights that provides
tons of great material confirming that psychiatry is evil was started by the Church of Scientology. Just because they believe in aliens does not invalidate their views, and I still do not trust the medical establishment. I especially can't trust science from morons who think people with penises are female, heh.

It's really fucking windy this evening, and there have been tons of days I've had to put large rocks on top of my trash bin to ensure it doesn't fly away tons of times.

That cute fox baby is one of the main villains, sort of an amalgam of two babyfurs that pissed me off when I was still knee-deep into the furry fandom.

I have tons of successor short stories I wrote for a Coursera class to tie into the book's follow up (this book had started as a rewrite of my original book's prologue) that I may publish on Substack eventually.

Also, happy Ides of March (March 15th). The Romans did peaceful protests right.

the romans did peaceful protests right by llamascout dktt214 414w 2x

The text says, "In Ancient Rome, commoners didn't riot, they ghosted the city. Fed up with injustice, the commoners staged massive walkouts, called Secessions of the Plebs, abandoning Rome and leaving the elites with no labor, army, or support. It worked, and they gained real political power."

Yeah, modern "peaceful protesters" could take a huge hint from this.

It's also Academy Award night but I ain't watching.
